The beginning of Malda Division was made when Malda-Chamagram section was trasferred from N. F. Railway to E. Railway and attached to Howrah Division in Nov. '82. With effect from July 1984, the same section was converted into a new Division with Headquarters at Malda, as the seventh Division of E. Railway. With the setting up of EC Railway Danapur, Dhanbad and Mughalsarai Divisions have become part of EC Railway. Thus, today Malda Division is the fourth Division of Eastern Railway..........
